Helping Hands in Our Community
Hello
My name is Tia A. Benbow, and I’m the founder of Good Gives Good. Originally from Newport News, VA, I’ve always had a heart for people. I studied Family and Consumer Science at Virginia State University. Not being one to settle, I decided to further my education and earned my Masters in Marketing from Strayer University. Ever since, I’ve been working to achieve my entrepreneurial dreams and constantly reaching back to help others. I’ve always known my purpose was to be of service—which is why I’m excited to have an organization dedicated to changing lives and being a blessing to others. My hope is that you are inspired by this organization and that it leads you pay it forward.
My Story
They say you never know who’s watching—and growing up I watched my great grandmother constantly give, even when she herself was in need. My great grandmother, who we affectionately called Flossie, always led by her awesome example. In fact, she is the reason why I’m so inspired to start Good Gives Good. My grandmother always said, “When you see someone with a need, you help them. You never know who may have to bring you a glass of water one day.” Good Gives Good is a nonprofit organization located in the Hampton Roads area. We are a community-based organization striving to serve the needs of the people in various ways. Although we are still in the start-up phase, our goal is to provide a food pantry, clothes/shoes, job resources, and mental health support.
